Sample Coaching Agreement & Contract

I work with people who are ready to make changes to have the kind of life that is fulfilling for them. They are people who can permit being contributed to- that is, they can receive information and take it in to add to the quality of their life. I work with people who get blocked, stuck, blinded from time to time, yet are committed to moving responsibly. I work with people who are interested in examining their limiting beliefs, taking ownership for their actions, thoughts, beliefs, and designing a way to live that more fully expresses their passion. I work with clients to maintain well-being and balanced lives. Many want to have “a better life than this,” but this life only lives in our imaginations until we commit to having it. The most crippling excuse for many people is that they believe they are the victims of circumstance, powerless to change their emotions or parts of their lives. Yet, through coaching, even the smallest change can make the biggest difference.

The coaching relationship is a partnership of two equals. My relationship with my clients is based on the solid belief that you are smart, capable, maturing people who want support in clarifying, articulating, and achieving your deepest goals. I am a lifetime coach—one that will be with you at any and all phases of your life. This is my commitment.

My Role as the Coach:

  • I will ask provocative questions. I know the inner wisdom of my clients will provide just the answer they need in order to take the next step. I ask introspective questions about beliefs and ways of being open to greater possibilities of your vision.
  • I give information, education, and direct advice from my own experiences and education in coaching when asked. I have 10+ years of experience helping clients to achieve what they want.
  • I will draw from a wide variety of coaching tools and techniques that I have studied over the years, including NLP processes as appropriate in our coaching relationship.
  • I provide support and direction by holding your strength, powerfulness, and wholeness for you, even when you get momentarily blinded by fear.
  • I will hold your agenda and goals foremost.
  • I will be on time for your calls and if I need to cancel or re-schedule, to do so within the 24-hour policy.
  • I will be your coach, versus your friend.
  • I will keep all our conversations private and confidential. If you want to share with others, this is up to you.

Your Role as the client

  • To keep agreed upon appointments and to be on time to the call.
  • If you miss a call without re-scheduling in a timely manner (24 hours), you will still be billed for the call.
  • To come prepared to share a win, progress and to have focus for the call.
  • Sometimes if you just need to clear energy/feelings first, claim space to do that. “I just need to clear for 2 minutes before we begin.” This honors the fact that sometimes things back up and you are frustrated. Let’s make space and be conscious that we need to drain the swamp before we can move into coaching. You lead the call. It is your life.
  • The payment processor will manage your payment schedule and payments will be processed before sessions according to the payment plan you agreed to. Should financial issues arise, you are responsible for services rendered.
  • To tell the whole truth, even if it is unpleasant. If something is not working in the coaching relationship, you have a responsibility to speak it as soon as you are aware of it. This will keep the trust level high and the energy flowing. The same is true for what works for you – share that too.
  • To do the work. Coaching works when you work. It is your life and your actions that make coaching successful for you.
  • To say what you will do for your homework during the week to further the coaching.
  • To keep commitments to yourself and to the coach.
  • To make no excuses without acknowledging them as excuses.
  • To take a leap, to stretch, to do something uncomfortable to grow.

Strategic Life, LLC; dba Kourtney Walker Coaching Contract

This contract is between Kourtney Walker, Coach, and the client.

This coaching contract outlines the terms and conditions governing the coaching relationship between the Coach and the Client. The services to be provided by the Coach to the Client are coaching or tele-coaching, as designed jointly with the Client. Coaching, which is not advice, therapy, or counseling, may address specific personal projects, business successes, or general conditions in the Client’s life or profession. It is understood and agreed upon by both parties that the coaching provided is not a substitute for therapy. Kourtney Walker does not work on “issues” or delve into the past; this responsibility is entrusted to the client. It is assumed that clients are whole and completely functional. The coaching process will focus on the present, removing obstacles, setting personal and professional goals, and taking action to create the desired life. The client affirms their clarity regarding the intention of coaching and recognizes the distinction between coaching and therapy. Should Kourtney Walker believe that therapeutic professional services are necessary, the client will be advised to seek appropriate help.

Other coaching services include value clarification, brainstorming, identifying plans of action, examining modes of operating in life, asking clarifying questions, and making empowering requests. The mindset coaching approach incorporates various techniques, including somatic movement, neurolinguistic programming (NLP), breathwork, and visualization. The client acknowledges and agrees to communicate with Kourtney if they are unable or unwilling to participate in any activities.

Additionally, the client has the autonomy to opt out of any activities at any point during the coaching sessions. Kourtney will offer different activities and resources to support the client.

Upon completion of the purchased package, coaching will convert to an hourly or a month-to-month basis at the regular package rate. The Client and Coach agree to provide one another with a fourteen-day notice in the event it is desired to cancel further services. It should be noted that there is a 24-hour cancellation/reschedule policy, and failure to reschedule within this time frame will result in charges for the session.

Throughout the working relationship, the Coach will engage in direct and personal conversations. The Client can count on the Coach to be honest and straightforward in asking questions and making requests. The Client understands that the power of the coaching relationship can only be granted by the Client, and the Client agrees to do just that: have the coaching relationship be powerful. The Client acknowledges and agrees that the coaching relationship with the Coach is designed to support personal and professional development, and any actions taken by the Client based on the coaching sessions are solely the Client’s responsibility. The Coach will exercise reasonable care, skill, and diligence in providing coaching services, but cannot guarantee specific outcomes or results. The Client understands that their progress and success depend on their own actions, decisions, and commitment to the coaching process. If the Client believes the coaching is not working as desired, the Client will communicate and take action to return the power to the coaching relationship.

In the event of extenuating circumstances that prevent the Client from continuing with the coaching services provided by the Coach, a refund may be considered on a case-by-case basis. The determination of whether a refund will be granted and the amount to be refunded will be at the sole discretion of the Coach, taking into consideration the specific circumstances presented. The Coach reserves the right to request appropriate documentation or evidence to support the extenuating circumstances, such as serious illness, unforeseen emergencies, or other exceptional situations that significantly hinder the Client’s ability to participate in the coaching process. Refunds, if approved, will be issued in a fair and reasonable manner, and alternative arrangements, such as rescheduling sessions or providing credit towards future coaching services, may also be considered. The Client understands that the decision regarding refunds is final and binding. The Coach’s liability for any claims, damages, or losses arising out of or relating to the coaching services provided under this contract shall be limited to the total fees paid by the Client to the Coach. The Coach shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental damages.

The Coach will maintain the confidentiality of all information shared by the Client during coaching sessions, except as required by law or where disclosure is necessary to prevent harm to the Client or others.

By entering into this coaching relationship, both the Coach and the Client agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless each other from any claims, actions, liabilities, or expenses arising out of or in connection with the coaching services provided.

This contract shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Arizona. Any disputes arising from this contract shall be resolved through negotiation or, if necessary, through arbitration.

This contract constitutes the entire agreement between the parties and supersedes any prior oral or written agreements or understandings. Any modifications to this contract must be made in writing and signed by both parties.

By signing this contract, the Client acknowledges and accepts the terms and conditions outlined in this combined coaching contract.
